I wanted to share something with you, and hope it’s ok.
You see, I’ve spent 37 years living my life one way, until now …
As you may know, the reason why I started Bair Knuckle Strength, was to help me heal after losing my brother to suicide and my cousin to muscular dystrophy.
They were my best friends in the whole world, and I needed somewhere to channel my grief, process the emotions and begin to work towards a compelling future that didn’t involve hate/anger, physical or emotional trauma and narcotic abuse.
What many don’t know (because I didn’t talk about it) was the physical and emotional trauma I suffered as a child.
I won’t bore you with all that today, as I wrote a book about it, which will take you down that rabbit hole, and will be released in May.
No, the reason for today’s email, is to share what I’ve done about those past traumas and how I’ve gotten to this point.
The point of being able to talk about painful stuff that terrifies me, still, because in truth, I don’t know how people will take it.
The more I’ve started talking about it, the more people have gotten off our email list, or stopped coming to the gym altogether and even answering texts or calls from me.
It’s caused many to seek communities that cater to them, as they weren’t ready to go deeper into their life, into owning their shit.
Which is fine.
Everyone needs a place where they can be themselves.
For me, I needed a place where all the BS, superficiality and negativity, were not.
I needed transparency.
I needed real.
I needed truth.
I wasn’t able to turn everything around by only focusing on the things I wanted to focus on.
Which is what most people do.
No.
It wasn’t by eating perfectly (although my nutrition is a huge part of my health these days).
It wasn’t by burying myself in workout after workout as I ‘exercised my demons’ (although my fitness is also a huge part of my health these days).
No.
It wasn’t until AFTER all the above stuff happened (which one might think is enough to make change stick) that I went deeper than NEEDED, in order to change the way my life was done.
It was ‘easy’ for me to start training again and learn how to eat better, because as a former athlete, the ‘training stuff’ was an ‘easy in’.
However, it was all the terrible endings I had to intimate relationships, that really opened my eyes.
I had started my business, was eating better, lifting a lot and still couldn’t keep a relationship …
Why?
In short … I needed to love myself.
And I didn’t know how …
Until now.
What I want to share … is this.
I’ve recently completed my coursework, my final paper has been approved, and I am now a Certified Life Coach with Tony Robbins and his company, Robbins-Madanes Training.
The process of going through Tony’s course, is what pushed everything over the top for me.
It showed me why I was, the way I was.
And if I didn’t get real with what was actually going on ‘under the hood’, that I would never really experience joy.
Real … utter … joy.
I enjoy my training.
I enjoy eating nutritiously.
And today, I’m proud to say that Bair Knuckle Strength will be offering Mindset Coaching – to go that deep if you’re ready 🙂
