Think Again

I was having a conversation with a student recently and she’s been sad.

She and her daughter have been having a difficult time reconciling their differences, about how they each view the past.

One believes things were tough, and that others around her had it better.

One believes things were tough, but not as bad as the other seems to think it was.

2 blood relatives.

2 unique and valid viewpoints.

2 differences of opinion.

1 stressful relationship.

Can you relate?

I know I can.

I used to think that people were idiots if they didn’t think like me.

I was always so angry with them for not seeing it ‘my way’.

And I was broke, alone and miserable.

So, what changed?

I’m still the same person.

Who had those same issues.

And yet, not in the same place.

Getting to the point … it was my thinking that changed.

I can look at the same issues, from a different perspective now.

Now I realize that somebody else’s viewpoints are not only valid, they help me relate even better to a person and create harmony in the relationship.

This wasn’t, and isn’t always possible.

I’ve had to let some people go, and put boundaries up with those who refuse to change their thinking.

You see, I’ve always had a choice.

My student does too.

This is part of the work we now do.

You won’t have result producing workouts, if you’re resentful, scared, anxious, sad or angry …

You’ll be in your head …

So, we need to deal with it, and then move on!

What choice would you make?

1. Podcasts

Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.

That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
