What’s your focus?

What we focus on, determines our happiness.

The quality of our emotions, dictates the quality of our life.

When we focus on what’s necessary to complete the task, thing, etc … it get’s done, and we feel good about that.

When we focus on what we can’t do, what’s not going to happen, why we’re incapable … it causes suffering and unnecessary problems.

The truth is, most are ignorant to their own needs …

We don’t know how to meet them, and we focus on that, which makes us miserable and puts us in a reactive mode, like waiting for someone to come along and make it all better for us …

Let me know when that happens … please.

That’s why many spend so much time telling others what they should do, cause they don’t know what to do themselves, and telling others makes them Significant (one of the 6 human needs) so at least they cover 1 need some of the time, by getting up your butt about stuff.

It keeps them from having to ‘deal with their own stuff’.

However, when we focus on others and what they need, it shifts that light of ‘what’s broken in us’ (in truth, nothing is broken) …we just like to think we are because it gives us attention and meets a need … to; there is a way for me to serve another human.

Example: When I think about what my students need, it immediately puts me in a higher thinking, creative space where the energy I’d spend focusing on something else, is freed up and allows me to ‘effortlessly’ begin to solve the problem.

This is easier said than done, and for many years I focused on myself and my problems … and it sucked.

That doesn’t mean I didn’t work on the things that I needed to work on for me, it means I did exactly that, so that I could be even more present for others.

I exercise, eat healthy and have completely changed the way I think.

I don’t have nagging thoughts about ‘eating crap’, or ‘missing a workout’, or ‘i’m not good enough’ because those thoughts, don’t serve you {first_name}.

Seriously, I wouldn’t have the courage (or even skill set) to write about all this stuff, let alone actually do it, and then be present with you and the rest of my students, as they find the courage to do it themselves.

I take my responsibility to others very seriously … not myself 🙂

In closing, what we focus on is important, and I hope you are focusing on what you can do about it.

What is ‘your responsibility’ that you’d like to better focus on?
