The theme around here recently has been, what’s the ‘Next Level’?
Subjective at first, so let’s dive a little deeper.
The ‘Next Level’ of what, you might ask?
For some, it’s the ‘Next Level’ of life.
For others, it’s the ‘Next Level’ of mindset, fitness, nutrition, etc …
And finally, maybe it’s just the ‘Next Level’ of a video game …
Lol … thinking of my nephew(s).
The truth, many never look at ‘what’s next’, because what’s next usually happens to them, not for them.
Did you catch that?
Let me try again …
Most never get to what’s next because life happens TO them, not FOR them.
See it there?
When I first heard that, I completely disregarded it as ‘woo woo BS’.
“HOW THE HELL DO THEY KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN MY LIFE?”
That’s the usual response many give, not just me.
Right?
“I’ve got kids, and a job and a spouse and responsibilities etc … so, yea, life just happens to me, and YOU don’t ‘get it!”
Until you think about it again.
And again.
And again.
Until finally, you go ‘Ah ha … I’ve got it!”
“Life just happens because I react to life, I don’t proactively design it.”
You see, we are the sum of our choices, not victims of circumstance.
We cannot control what ‘happens to us’ like: births, graduations, weddings, deaths.
However, we can control how we ‘react to it’.
We can control the actions we take everyday.
We can control how we show up in the world everyday.
A reactive person will blame everyone but themselves for all that is ‘happening to them’, because they think it’s an external fault.
A proactive person will blame themselves for all that is ‘happening for them’, because that’s the way they designed it.
What does all this have to do with the ‘Next Level’?
If you don’t know who you are, and where you’re at, it’s hard to know where you’re going.
Let me try another question for you …
Do you know the definition of emotional maturity?
Essentially, if you want to be happy, and I try and make you unhappy by saying something like …
“You’re lazy and I don’t want to train you!”
And you believe me …
(even though you’re probably not lazy and I’d LOVE to train you …)
Then I’ve ‘won’ because I made you feel what you didn’t want to feel.
Kind of like life happening ‘to us’, right?
However, if you know yourself, and that you’re not lazy and are a lovely person, AND keep living your life as if I hadn’t said anything, then you’ve ‘won’.
That’s how we get life to happen for us.
By understanding things will happen to us.
And being ok with that anyway as we move forward in life.
Isn’t that a worthy ‘Next Level’?
I certainly believe so.

1. Podcasts
Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.
That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
2. Rise
Rise is the story of ‘never feeling powerful … to … never feeling powerless’. It’s about John Bair’s life, why he does what he does and how his suffering created happiness.
This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
