I like to stay up and watch the Super Bowl and since I usually (not always) write these the night before I post them, I decided to write last night instead of Sunday.
And boy I’m glad I did.
It seems we had a ‘typical’ response to the Halftime show which starred Latin Music Stars, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
Some LOVED it.
Some were OFFENDED by it.
Some were INDIFFERENT.
Before reading further, if you didn’t see it and want to weigh in, check it out first below.
In my small corner of the world over here, the scale is tipping towards many being OFFENDED because it was: risque, slutty, trashy and objectify’s women, among many other complaints.
The other side of the scale was that it was empowering, inspiring and shows what women can aspire to.
I saw 2 incredibly talented, fit, athletic, musically gifted, latin women who were showing us a glimpse inside their culture, period.
Not a 43 and 50 year old woman.
Just two amazing women who will no doubt have little girls who want to be just like them.
I also understand there are moms who thought it was way too inappropriate, and changed the channel so their kids, boys and girls, wouldn’t see it.
That is fair … it’s their choice.
There are always 3 sides to the story … not 2, as many would have you believe … yours, theirs, and the truth.
It’s no secret that people think differently, and trying to get someone to see your point of view is futile, especially if you don’t validate their’s.
Here’s my opinion (which likely matters very little) …
People who were offended should consider getting offended more, because while you’re ‘being offended’, you’re not actually changing anything … you’re just ‘passing the buck’ by ‘whining about what you don’t like’.
Accept that there will ALWAYS be things you don’t like AND that nobody really cares what you think about it anyway.
That way, you’ll spend less time being offended, and more time actually making changes to the way you react to these things.
This way, we can be the change.
If you didn’t like it … show your kids ‘how it should be’ through your actions.
If your actions were to get on Facebook and whine about it, what are we teaching our kids???
So, I’m curious, what are your thoughts?

1. Podcasts
Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.
That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
2. Rise
Rise is the story of ‘never feeling powerful … to … never feeling powerless’. It’s about John Bair’s life, why he does what he does and how his suffering created happiness.
This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
