Have you ever wondered if the workouts you’re doing are good?
It’s a common question, usually mentally, however, let’s start by defining ‘good’.
Good is relative to you.
What would be good for you?
I’ll take a stab here and ‘assume’ that a good workout is one that gets you results, is challenging, and yet, you enjoy it or at least the results from it.
Simple, not easy.
Here is where we can get really nuanced, but I won’t.
I believe a good workout is one that is enjoyable, yet sustainable, because you can repeat it over time, by adjusting certain variables like: volume, density, intensity, load, exercise selection, timing, tempo, time under tension, etc …
I also believe a good workout meets you where you’re at, even if at the moment you feel ‘unfit’, ‘scared’, ‘trepidatious’ or even ‘unworthy’ of owning your health.
Getting started shouldn’t crush your soul, it should feel like a step you can take, and then take another after that, because you won’t adhere to something you hate … period.
The most overlooked part of a good workout is the environment.
Some people love training solo, and while I enjoy that most of the time, I love teaching group classes and seeing everyone feed off each others energy, PLUS, when you see someone 10 years older than you doing more than you, it puts a little spark in your ass too 😉
Do you think I’ve missed anything in my simple explanation?
Since we talked about Just Starting something in our last email, like even walking … let’s take that a step further.
What is/are your goals for your workouts?
Are you looking to lose weight, build muscle, burn fat, improve health, better balance, mobility/flexibility, or something else?
That’s what we’ll need to know, in order to measure said workouts effectiveness.
Once we know where you’re headed, then the things like: volume, density, intensity, load, exercise selection, timing, tempo, time under tension, etc … actually start to matter.
Until then, it’s like peeing into the wind and hoping you don’t get splashed … futile.
Have you been peeing into the wind?

1. Podcasts
Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.
That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
2. Rise
Rise is the story of ‘never feeling powerful … to … never feeling powerless’. It’s about John Bair’s life, why he does what he does and how his suffering created happiness.
This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
