Please help me understand …

Before you go any further …

This may ‘trigger’ or ‘offend’ you, and I’m certainly not looking to stir pots, get into one-sided debates, or intentionally cause pain by being insensitive.

I want to know why you think the way you do, and understand where you’re coming from and what you believe to be true.

So, after reading this, if you don’t see eye to eye with me and you’re able to respond instead of react, I’d really love if that could happen.

You dig?

Here goes…

I’m not afraid of getting Covid-19.

Are you?

If you are, I’d like to hear from you.

Those in a similar predicament to me may want to read further to understand where I’m coming from, but understand I don’t need validation.

Let’s uncork this thing, shall we?

It’s clear to see there is A LOT of fear around Covid-19.

Many have gotten sick, or died.

Depending on what stats you’re looking at, which may be askew, the survival rate is like 97-99% probable.

Some may argue it’s less, due to false death certificates – like someone died of a gunshot, yet had a positive Covid-19 test, which becomes the cause, apparently?! 🙁

If you choose to focus on that, then fear will run rampant.

However, it’s clear to see that the probability of survival is like 9 out of 10, very high!

That’s where my question dovetails.

Why is there so much fear?

Is getting sick really that bad?

Why?

I’m not sure that I ‘get that’.

Like, I understand that getting sick is not the first thing on anyone’s wish list, but humans can heal and get better.

The ‘regular flu’ is rotten too, especially if you’re leaking from all orifices, but 99% get better, heal, and grow more resilient.

Covid-19 isn’t a picnic either, but MOST people will get better.

When did we become so afraid to get sick?

HELLO?!?!?!?!

The whole freaking nation is SICK … and NOT with any flu or Covid-19, either.

Is your fear about being in the 1-10% (probable) that may die?

Do you know you have a pre-existing condition that heightens your risk?

Are you afraid of your parents or loved ones getting sick?

I mean, even healthy people have died, however, that percentage is even smaller.

I guess I’m ‘different’ in that I understand death is coming for us all, there’s no escape, and so, I don’t fear death.

By no means am I looking to speed up that process either, and in fact, my lifestyle is built in such a way to make it really hard for Death to get me, because the first order of business is ALWAYS taking care of my mind.

I believe all this fear mongering will do more damage to the minds of ALL people, than Covid-19 will (long-term) to their physical health.

It’s murdered the spirits of more people than Covid-19 could ever put into the cemetery.

If I do fear anything, it’s probably not living up to my full potential, or losing my marbles.

I don’t want to forget my loved ones, or become some soiled vegetable in adult diapers, pooping myself – TAKE ME OUT PLEASE!

My fear is more based around not being able to LIVE life, than it is getting sick or fearing death.

And I don’t put much (if any) amount of focus into my fears, because I don’t need my subconscious mind bringing that shit to fruition.

Here’s where I need some help understanding and am genuinely looking for feedback.

Chances are, when it comes to dying of Covid-19, based on who is reading this, the odds are very much in favor of you living, {first_name}.

Now, that doesn’t mean we as a nation, and maybe planet, are absolved of being SICK …

Like, 75% of the nation is overweight, with half being clinically obese.

You know this leads to heart disease, horrible life quality and the diabeetus, for starters, right?

The top killers are heart attacks, cancer and stroke.

Looks like the vast majority of our people don’t fear being fat, as there’s no shortage of fast food options.

When Popeye’s Chicken released a new sandwich just before this Quarantine, people lined up outside, OVERNIGHT, to eat, basically, a piece of shit on a bun.

Wtf?

It’s like pulling teeth for me to talk to someone about why their health is so important, encourage them to take control of it, and get them in the gym (doesn’t even have to be mine).

People aren’t afraid to drive on the roads where over 100 people die EVERYDAY in accidents.

I don’t want to keep using stats as part of my point to highlight the opposite of what MOST people are thinking right now, which is poo ..

I just really would like to know WHY PEOPLE ARE SO AFRAID OF GETTING SICK (we already are) WHEN THE PROBABILITY OF DEATH IS SO DIMINUTIVE?

In my opinion, we should be more afraid of our self-inflicted SICKNESS.

And, STOP being afraid all together … (yes, it’s possible).

Focus all that energy that you’re spending on being afraid (for yourself or others), which isn’t helping them or you, and take care of your mind and body instead.

Trust that things are happening for you, not to you – the true nature of life.

And when it’s your time, embrace it, and on to the next journey!

Just my viewpoint.

To me, everyone is working towards the same thing (happiness for themselves and loved ones), which, for example, let’s call it ‘adding up to 9’.

Well, you might get there with 7 + 2.

I may get there with 5 + 4.

Similar, but different, AND YET, exactly the same.

So, if your viewpoint differs, and you want to answer with a quality response, not react – NO RANTS OR HATE – I’d truly like to work and understand you.

Thank you.

Be Well – John
