What you can expect

Have you ever started a new training program and wanted to know what to expect?

We have potential students inquire about our services and will want to know what they can expect if they join Bair Knuckle Strength.

While there is a specific process around what we do and why we do it, there is also the ‘learning curve’ of how we do it.

They get that, usually, or pick it up quickly if they like our style.

What most actually want to know is: “Can I lose {insert poundage number} pounds in {short time frame}?”

To which I usually say: “What if you didn’t lose any weight, but your clothes fit better and you had more energy?”

And I get a big smile and a nodding head signifying ‘yes’.

So, perhaps it isn’t the weight coming off, so much as ‘feeling’ like it did, or changing your body composition around so you’re not so ‘fluffy’, eh?

Now, I think a better question is: “Once I’ve lost {insert poundage number} pounds, how do I keep it off?”

Totally different mindset.

One expects to be happy when the weight comes off, as if our weight is on a roller coaster that we can’t control (hint: we can).

The other wants to continue being happy and keep the weight off, knowing it will take WAY longer than {short time frame}.

Perhaps if people were willing to stay consistent with their health, our country would not have the rampant obesity issues … but I digress.

Most people want a short cut to success … so here it is:

Hire a Coach!

You will still have to do the work yourself, however, you can learn from someone who has the results you want, who will show you the way and they can teach you to get the results for yourself … instead of figuring it out on your own (hint: you won’t).

So, for people who make a real commitment to long term health, fitness and self-improvement, here’s what they can expect …

The break in period …

In the first few weeks you’re going to learn to show up and be consistent with your fitness. You’ll get nutrition guidelines on how to eat, and access to a like-minded community who will help you feel better mentally because you’ll realize you’re not alone on your journey.

It can be overwhelming when learning new skills, and so, leaning on others who are further ahead on the road, is the accountability we all need. Just take things one skill at a time, slowly, and over time, you’ll conquer the stuff that overwhelmed you. Focusing on what you CAN do is how you start to gain motivation to continue.

You’ll also have sore muscles, most likely, which is normal, especially if you haven’t been active for awhile. That is a pain you can choose, and since we all get to choose our pain, how about the short term pain of a training session over the long-term pain of self-hatred for doing nothing?

Remember, you’re working out the kinks, knocking off some rust and soreness is NOT a good indicator of whether your workout was good. Any idiot can make you sore, it takes a coach to get you healthy.

You’ll also FEEL the difference in a few weeks. Muscles you didn’t know existed will start ‘talking to you’. You’ll have more energy and your confidence will begin to grow. People might even notice that you ‘look different’.

The First 3 Months…

As you get to the end of these beginning months, you’ll feel as though you’re finding a consistent groove.

You’ve been exercising 2-3x a week, eating according to your goals and not on the whim of every emotional moment, plus you’ve been feeling better mentally as you found out you weren’t alone on your journey, another positive!

You will find new foods you like, try new recipes out and put your new nutrition education into practice to feed your success, not your failures.

Training sessions are becoming something you look forward to, because you feel awesome after you complete them.

People in your circle can see and feel your energy – some are getting jealous – and they’re noticing your butt in those jeans, or your legs in a skirt, like, ‘Damn girl, you fine!’.

You’ve even fit into some clothes you haven’t in awhile, the ones you threw in the back of the closet that didn’t flatter you, but now those defined legs and arms need a way to shine!

The Second 3 Months…

You’re ready to try things you used to think were impossible for you.

The weights you’re lifting seemed really heavy a few months back.

Your comfort zone is expanding outside of the gym.

Family and friends continue to notice how healthy, happy and alive you are.

The Third 3 Months…

You’ve now formed the habit of exercise and fitness, which has led to your new lifestyle.

Things you couldn’t do before, are now routine and you’ll want to share these profound breakthroughs.

Other newer members will see your change and you’ll now be an inspiration to them.

People in your circle will start to ask you for tips on how to get healthy, because now you’ll be their ‘expert’!

The Fourth 3 Months…

Being healthy and happy is now your reality, not a dream you hope for.

The skills you’ve learned in health and fitness are now ‘normal’ not strange or different.

The way you think and your self-confidence are now in alignment with your vision of yourself.

You’re actually proud of yourself, for once ;-p

The Next 12 Months…

Nothing will feel unattainable, as you’ll be up for anything in fitness, and in life in general.

New challenges await and you know you’ll achieve, because you believe it.

You’ve trained to do hard things in the gym, which will translate outside of the gym to doing hard things.

You won’t question yourself whether you can do it.

You’ll be asking yourself why can’t you do it?

Pretty sold for 2 years … yeah?

If you’re not currently training, or being consistent with exercise, imagine if you’d started 2 years ago what you would’ve achieved by now!?

Do you see the pitfalls of the short term, quick-fix solutions?

Now imagine staying course for 3, 5, even 10 years!

If you haven’t been consistent with your exercise and would like to be on the ‘other side’ of that 2 year barrier, reply to this email with “GET ME STARTED” in the subject line, add a little about yourself in the body, and I’ll be right there with the next step

If you have been consistent, please let me know if I missed anything and I’ll add it to the bullet points for later.

What seems like something you’ll ‘always have time to get to’ isn’t actually true, because as we know, time flies … even in this deathly slow year of 2020 … it’s almost September already, sheesh!

You can’t go back and change what’s happened, but you can change what will happen in the future with your actions today!

Time will pass either way.
