Will it really hurt your back?

So many people are afraid of this lift (see blue video link below).

Yet, picking something up off the floor is all it is.

‘I’ll hurt my back’ is usually the #1 complaint.

What’s funny is, I don’t practice these often.

I was at my buddy Rob’s gym a couple weeks back and was able to lift 2 times my bodyweight, see video below …

I hadn’t done anything that heavy in over 6 months.

And it’s not like I’m setting the world on fire with Record setting lifts over here.

It took time over the years to build up to this, no doubt.

And I didn’t learn it on my own from a book or a YouTube video.

I had a coach.

I put in many hours of practice and thousands of repetitions.

Form totally matters.

But my nervous system remembered how to do it.

So, I was able to step up and get it done.

With no pain or soreness the next day.

Just something I’ve built the ability to always be able to do.

Like helping a friend with a couch.

And, I haven’t had back issues …

Like, ever.

So, I’m not convinced that lifting things will hurt you, like so many others are.

I do believe lifting improperly can hurt you, so don’t do that.

Are you afraid of lifting heavy, or do you enjoy it?

Why?
