Embrace the Suck

This year has sucked!

Have you embraced that, or hid from it?

Personally, I’ve embraced it, after a brief period of mourning.

I understand why most people don’t.

They don’t know how, or don’t want to.

When things get hard, physically or emotionally, they shut down.

They don’t lean into the uncomfortableness.

They numb themselves with (fill in the blank) instead.

It’s easier than facing your fears … until it’s not.

These people are liabilities to themselves, and humanity, because instead of growing, they’re contracting, shrinking, using more resources on themselves while becoming more feeble and less able to be of use to anyone.

Now, before everything shutdown, I was having some of my best months in business, ever.

Things were going good, trending up!

I was hopeful this was ‘my year’.

And you know what I found out?

It still is my year.

Here’s what I’ve done since the shutdown … and things that have ‘happened to me’ outside of my control …

  • I’ve had depression attempt to derail me, yet again.
  • I’ve watched in horror as more than half my business evaporated.
  • I’ve become dad to a cat named Cricket, who is sick, but amazing.
  • I’ve created an Online Program as good as any in the world, with a Membership Site for my Members so they can continue to grow, which helps me grow because now I can reach more people.
  • I hired a Nutrition Coach and now have a visible 6 pack of abdominals where I never did before, which has given me more freedom in my food choices than ever before, with the confidence to know that I can ‘literally’ eat anything I want, and still have a lean, happy, healthy body.
  • And I now know how to coach others to their dream body..
  • I’ve saved more money in my savings account, than any year prior.
  • I made it through a whole week of knowing my mom was in the hospital and I couldn’t go see her because of this shutdown.
  • I had a surgery for the first time, and had to ‘go under’.
  • The next day, my dad had emergency heart surgery to replace a valve that was being threatened with MRSA.

And yet, I’m still here.

And, so are you. 😉

The only difference, is in the choices we’ve made.

Who we’ve decided to be.

I’m not shaming you for your choices, as I hope you wouldn’t shame me for mine.

What saddens me, is that the majority of people have no idea how resilient and robust their mind and body actually is, and that they can do so much more than they ‘think’ they can physically and emotionally.

This is why I talk about mindset so much, because if you can’t win the battle in your mind, you won’t EVER win the war in reality, or get your results – which is an amazing, joy filled life, right?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here … (but not too far, in reality)

I guarantee there have been times in your life where sh*t happened and you were forced to deal, to lean into some sh*t that you probably didn’t want to, right?

Go ahead, tell me I’m wrong … I’ll wait.

….

That was life forcing you into the suck and not willingly allowing you to embrace it – hoping you would learn from it and become more resilient for others around you, instead of afraid of your own shadow.

What would happen if you just started doing the sucky part first, and let the good sh*t come to you – you know, went all ‘reverse psychology’ on that sh*t?

Because it ‘literally’ works the same way.

Wow, I’ve said ‘literally’ a lot today …

When you lean into the suck, it sucks less.

When you run from the suck, it sucks more.

If you embrace the suck, keep going!
