80% rule

I’m always working to simplify things in mine and my student’s lives.

One of those things for me, was Nutrition.

You see, growing up, I ate food in order to get bigger.

I was afraid on the inside …

I thought that the bigger you were, the less you got picked on …

Unless of course you went too ‘big’, and that too had it’s pitfalls.

I was a football player, and because of my ‘huskiness’, I was deemed a lineman, or ‘big ugly’.

So, my diet in high school consisted of peanut butter sandwiches, pizza, hoagies, protein shakes and anything else I could stuff in my face.

This was great for getting bigger!

Not so much for getting healthier.

It wasn’t until later in life, like my late 20’s, that I got a handle on healthy eating.

One of the things that helped me tremendously, was the 80% rule.

If 80% of my meals were ‘clean, unprocessed junk’ and balanced properly, getting and staying lean was really, really, REALLY simple.

If my plate had Lean Protein, Veggies and Quality Fats on it, 80% of the time, I was energized and able to carry out my mission.

Another way to look at it is if you eat 3 meals a day, times 7 days a week, that gives you 21 eating opportunities.

If 18 to 19 of those meals are ‘clean’, then I’m good.

I don’t care about eating perfection … it’s WAY too exhausting.

No, I care about eating excellence.

Everyone can be excellent, everyday.

You can make excellent choices and lose weight or lean out, with little to no thought.

If you follow the 80% rule.

Does that sound like something you could get on board with?

1. Podcasts

Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.

That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!

This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
