Have you ever been injured?
I have.
A few times.
Most people just keep moving the best they can.
Hoping it ‘goes away’ …
Sometimes, it does.
The body heals itself … if you get out of the way.
Sometimes, however, it doesn’t.
The pain gets so unbearable, that it takes over your entire celestial being and demands every ounce of attention … lest you be a masochist (which is cool) …
Maybe it keeps you from your favorite activities.
Maybe it keeps you from having to deal with other issues.
I know many people who’ve said that they wanted to ‘get rid of the pain’.
And I believed them.
However, after showing them the path, they realized it will be harder than originally thought, and so, masking the pain becomes their choice.
It’s what most everyone wants, right?
A quick little pill, or adjustment, or potion, or tincture, or salve, or Cannabinoid Lotion, or whatever will just work and make it GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
You know that nagging pain … the one you keep overlooking that you’ve had for like, EVER!?!?
Maybe it starts with an aspirin … some ibuprofen … or even alcohol.
Over time, you up the dose … or, ignore it further.
Then your pain, starts to affect your mind.
Every decision in your life is clouded by managing this thing and giving it all that energy.
People do this for days, weeks, months …. hell, I recently had a woman come in who has been having back pain for 20+ YEARS … and she’s 40!!!!!
Former runner, now does CrossFit type stuff and has been doing it for 5+ years, 6 days a week … spending half her life, in chronic pain?!?!?
When asked why she keeps exercising with pain …
“Because I need the pain from my workout to feel important and valuable, like I matter.”
In other words, she’s become addicted to her pain … the ‘pain’ of the workout … not necessarily her back pain (a result of the workout).
She needs it to function.
The problem is, it’s affecting her workouts to the point where she can no longer do the same amount of exercise that she once did …
She’s feeling weak, frustrated, limited …
And that’s what brought her in …
Not the back pain itself, per se, but the fact that the back pain is now finally limiting what she craves most … and she can’t ignore it.
She’s tried several different Chiropractors, several rounds of Physical Therapy, Massage, Acupuncture, Inversion Therapy, ART Therapy, and so many others I’m not gonna list them all.
She was even on the verge of exploratory spinal surgery ….
And after an hour with us, she said “I finally feel like I have hope …”
Want to know what we did?
We sat down with her for about 30 minutes to get a sense of her history and what she’s been going through … a mental assessment.
Then we put her through a movement and strength assessment.
Pain is an indicator that something is being overlooked.
Assessments turn over the rocks and find out what exactly that is.
In her case, as it is with everyone who comes to us (after having “tried it all”), she can no longer take short cuts, or use masking agents.
Nope, she has to ‘get real’ with her pain … and face it.
Can’t run from it anymore.
This is scary … and where we lose a lot of people to suicide, addictions and mental health illnesses.
I see that ALOT … people want to feel better about themselves, so they start exercising, and bury themselves in the gym so they don’t have to deal with the other pains in their lives …
This only works so long, before, like this lady, it catches up and that avenue is taken from you.
It’s why we teach Mindset now, as well as Fitness and Nutrition.
There is only one way to make pain go away.
You go through it.
You unravel it.
You honor it.
You rebuild it.
You heal it.

1. Podcasts
Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.
That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
2. Rise
Rise is the story of ‘never feeling powerful … to … never feeling powerless’. It’s about John Bair’s life, why he does what he does and how his suffering created happiness.
This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
