Happy Memorial Day!
In honor of those who gave their all for us, here’s the least I can do in return.
I get asked a lot about the most important things people should be doing, but aren’t, to be happy and healthy.
Let’s keep it simple today and give you that list.
- Morning Routine: It’s MOST important to set your mindset for the day. The most successful in all areas have something they do to get started in the mornings. My personal routine includes waking, bathroom, 10 minutes of meditation/breath work, drink 16-24 oz water, read 10-15 pages of a book, write poems/songs/gratitude journal, take a walk and get sunlight, do some light mobility work, have a light meal or protein shake, then work …
- Exercise everyday: Simple, right? Walk, Stretch, Mobility Work, Dance, Adult Fun, Whatever gets you moving here … do it … everyday!
- Strength Training: It’s not enough just to move, you need to move. And you need to strengthen your body. Call it your duty to your fellow human. If you want someone strong enough to carry you out of danger, you have to be able to reciprocate in some way. Do this 2-4 times a week at least and keep challenging yourself to progress. We can help if you need ideas, or motivation.
- Eat like an Adult: This too is simple, just not easy. Some may have to willingly give up their ice cream here if it doesn’t get them to their desired health goals. Others will have earned the right to their ice cream, by working hard for it. However, 80-90% of what you eat should be Protein, Veggies, Good Fats, Good Carbs and include all colors of the rainbow, period. Let us know if you need some ideas.
- Gratitude: It’s amazing what can happen when you start searching for what’s good in your life. Even if to just write some stuff in a journal for your mental health. Writing down 1-3 things you’re grateful for every morning can do wonders, try it. We can help here too.
- Sleep: It’s the most important thing you do. It helps you recover from the day before, and prepare you for the next day to come. Nothing else is better. It’s imperative to find out how much sleep you need. Some people do fine with 5-6 hours. I’m not one of those folks and generally need 8-10 hours, as the pandemic has helped me find
There is more stuff you could add, however, that won’t mean it’s a better list, especially if you don’t have an appreciation for what’s on the list before trying to add to it.
That list above, if mastered by any individual, is enough to create a life beyond their wildest dreams.
After that, then the rest is easy.
Most try to go the other way, and lose their health, making everything way harder.
Beyond the freedom we were given by our ancestors, you must maintain it individually by building up your physical body and mental spirits.
Let’s all do our part today 😉
Be Well – John
Changing the way Life is done.
Mindset. Fitness. Nutrition.
P.S. Here are 4 more ways you can become happier and healthier:
1. Podcasts
Some of the greatest insights and healing for me, have come from listening to podcasts in the last few years. This long-form type of communication, I’ve found, has been extremely important for understanding context, while learning how to make sustainable change.
That’s why I have started to find ways to get our story on some podcasts, and give you an opportunity to really go deep with us, and see what we’re all about. That way, you can decide if this tribe fits your personality. Click the link below to go to our podcast page, where you can find all our episodes!
2. Rise
Rise is the story of ‘never feeling powerful … to … never feeling powerless’. It’s about John Bair’s life, why he does what he does and how his suffering created happiness.
This handwritten book takes you through an intimate, yet, self-revealing journey, which allows you to implant yourself into the story, as it relates to your own, and reveal the steps you’ll need to take, in order to make change a successful reality.
