I was watching the TV show ‘Gotham’ with Jackie last night, and it had a neat lesson in there.
Bruce Wayne, aka Batman – is The Dark Knight!
This TV show is set in the times before Bruce Wayne became Batman, and after his parents were murdered – thus, igniting his fire for squelching crime and murder.
Bruce has been searching for answers and wants revenge.
His butler, Alfred Pennyworth, has been named his guardian in light of the loss of Bruce’s parents.
One day, Bruce is talking to Alfred, and says “if you help me catch my parents murderers without trying to dissuade me, I’ll do whatever it takes to become a good man… and even start training everyday.”
Alfred agrees.
He picks Bruce up one day after school, albeit, down the street from the school so the rest of the kids would not see that Bruce had a butler.
He didn’t want to be seen as kid with special privileges … though he was.
Alfred understood, and even handed Bruce a change of clothes: Sweat pants, tennis shoes and a T-Shirt.
Bruce says “You want me to walk home?!”
Alfred says “No Master Bruce, I want you to run home … training starts now.”
Alfred intended to hold Bruce to his promise …
He knew nothing happens without action
Change cannot occur … unless the work is put in.
Bruce Wayne did not become Batman … without earning it.
A lean body, sharp mind and endless energy aren’t inherited, or bestowed upon us … they are a by-product.
A by-product of your intentions.
Hopefully, those are in line with your vision.
The vision you have for your future.
The best part is, you have the choice … the opportunity to make it a reality.
Like Bruce Wayne becoming Batman!
