It was my second year in college and my first living off campus, in a frat house to boot (imagine that, lol) …
Tucked away and zonked out from a long night of studying, doing homework … and … other studious pursuits 😉 …
My roommate, Joe Mac, came running up the stairs to the room we shared in the house.
“Bair … wake up dude!!!”
(no response)
“BAIR … DUDE, you gotta get up … seriously”
(shakes me)
“Something’s happened”
I meandered down the stairs behind him, groggy AF, figuring it was some f**ked up surprise he had in store …
Except, the energy downstairs was palpable …
All of our other house mates (also fraternity brothers) were huddled around the Tele (we have some Brits here) …
Nobody was joking.
A building on the screen was smoking, and as I turned to look at it … it crumbled … like in a movie.
“Was this real?”
There was a f**ked up surprise all right … just nothing I could ever have imagined.
It is one of those days, where an indelible impression was tattooed to my psyche … and I’ll always remember … unfortunately.
I’m sure you will too.
Just want you to know I’m sending Love your way, because hate cannot drive away hate … only Love can do that.
