Double-Doink

I was watching the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Chicago Bears yesterday, in a rematch of last years football playoffs.

This reminded me of the infamous Double-Doink field goal from last years playoff game.

The Bears kicker from last year (also a former Eagles kicker) had the unfortunate luck of having his last second kick hit not once, but twice on the goal posts, like a cruel kick to the face, and fall harmlessly to the ground, no points scored, EAGLES Win!!!

In case you missed it …

The broadcasters in yesterday’s game were talking about how the Bears coach wasn’t talking to his team about revenge this year against the Eagles, but rather, perseverance.

The Bears coach made a power-point presentation this week, about the Washington Nationals, who, last weekend, clinched their first World Series Championship in team history.

Very cool for the DC area!

The coach talked about how the Nationals started the season 19-31, and finished 74-38, to sneak into the playoffs.

Then they had to win a 1 game showdown in the wild card game.

Then had to go through two of the better teams in baseball to even get to the World Series.

And then, they had to beat the World Series favorite, Houston Astros, which took all 7 games.

Lots of anxiety and nail biting for all involved, as the Nationals pulled it out.

The Bears coach is hoping he can use this story to rally the Bears in the second half of the season, as they themselves, once considered contenders, have fallen to a losing record.

I like the approach of using examples where triumph happens through belief.

The Nationals (and some fans) were the only ones who thought they could do it when they were down and losing.

The Bears (and some fans) are playing that card, and hoping to win through adversity.

And we all remember how the Eagles did that 2 years ago … right?

The point here, using all these sports analogies, is to remind you that even if you feel down and out, with a ‘losing record’ right now, you can still choose to have the belief that you’re going to win.

You might now know how, or what to do, but that’s ok and doesn’t matter.

All you need to do is make the decision that you’re worth it and take the actions you need in order to move forward.

If you feel really lost, check in with your teammates … the people who want to see you win in your life, and let them work with you in order to regroup.

And if you don’t have a person or people like that, comment below, because not only do I want to see you win life, I want to see you show others how to do the same.

Wishing you all the best …. and to Da Bears, all the best next week 😉
